Case Study 3:

Marian's House

Not Yet Available

The Outcome

Marian’s House is not a licensed day program for older adults…nor is it a residence for seniors…nor is it a single family home; yet it has components of all three for persons with early to mid-stage dementia. The house is residential in character and located within a neighborhood off campus. It is designed for one-on-one interaction and group activities with a large, open kitchen, great room, dining room and den – offering meals, activities, supervision and specialized programming in a warm, residential home. A respite program for overnight or weekend stays is possible with a 24-hour caregiver living on the premises in a connected apartment. Day and night, Marian’s House is a resource center providing education and support for caregivers in partnership with The Alzheimer’s Association and other community organizations.
