UBS: Facilities On-Call Planning Services

Stamford, Connecticut
Perkins Eastman has completed more than 20 projects for UBS, including a program analysis and restack of their existing headquarters, an addition to the headquarters, and design work in two additional locations. Planning and design work has ranged from 1,500 sf to a full 700,000 sf planning and restack study. Other projects have included a new dining facility and development of a signage system.

Flexibility is key in the new UBS dining facility; the space is subdivided and reconfigured with moveable partitions to accommodate several different seating scenarios. Comprehensive state-of-the-art AV and lighting systems provide sophisticated videoconferencing, allowing users to seamlessly display one large image over six screens or separate images on individual screens. The existing servery was reconfigured to alleviate overcrowding and long waiting lines. The redesign included new equipment, lighting, signage, and finish materials.

A new custom signage system designed gives UBS the ability to control the display of information and alleviate the clutter of haphazard information placement. The new system will be rolled out in UBS offices worldwide and implemented in elevator lobbies, cafeterias, and open work areas. The system allows for the easy exchange of information without tools while incorporating a component for informational take-away sheets for staff. Fabricated from two sheets of glass and a beveled cut-out for thumb access, the other components include ceiling-to-floor cables and wall-mounted stainless steel pins or a pole-mounted tension system.
