Perkins Eastman | Cairo Expo City

Cairo Expo City

Cairo, Egypt
The new 41-hectare (101-acre) Cairo Expo City (CEC) is envisioned as a new unique oasis in central Cairo, compromising a 10,000 sm (108,000 sf) exhibition center; multi-purpose convention center to accommodate more than 5,000 delegates; a five-star, 500-key hotel; shopping mall; and 36-story a signature office tower. Large underground garages and a new subway station in the front entrance connect the site to the urban fabric of greater Cairo. The CEC is designed to be a landmark destination in Cairo and the region for conventions and exhibitions.

In developing the conceptual master plan for Phase 1 of the project, Perkins Eastman utilized the most efficient formula for an exhibition and mixed-use development in order to optimize the feasibility of the project, while at the same time provide a special and unique image. The complex incorporates sustainable features at all levels to be an example of a green convention and exhibition city—where usage of energy, alternative energy and recycling and sustainable development is fully implemented. Sustainable landscape, solar and renewable energy, solar shading, and waste reductions are all part of the vision.
