USTA Master Plan (RGR)

Queens, New York
RGR Landscape was selected by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to provide landscape services for the expansion of its campus in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York. The goal of this long-term master plan is to accommodate a greater number of daily visitors –50,000 rather than 40,000. RGR’s redesign of the campus will improve the overall experience of the visitor by reworking pedestrian circulation and by providing several seating, dining, viewing, and planted areas all executed in a coherent architectural language. RGR is taking into consideration how users of Flushing Meadows Corona Park interact with the USTA in its design of the facility’s perimeter, which includes vehicular circulation and road alignment to the south of the campus gates. An emphasis on sustainability will guide all of the firm’s decisions regarding stormwater management, paving, lighting, and planting design. The budget for the overall, 8-10 year renovation of the USTA campus and buildings is upwards of $500 million.
