New York Methodist Hospital: Center for Community Health

Brooklyn, New York
This new freestanding ambulatory care clinic will offer a technologically advanced and flexible platform to deliver the future of medical care to residents of its historic Brooklyn neighborhood. Located adjacent to the main hospital, the seven-story 480,000 sf facility will complete New York Methodist Hospital’s campus in Park Slope.

With a modern architectural character that interprets the surrounding brownstones and the larger neighborhood context, its massing accommodates the full program while its stepped facade reduces the scale of extensive street walls and expresses the sloped streets and existing development in the area. As a result, the building reads as multiple, smaller facilities that are cohesively joined.

Programmatically, the center offers an extensive array of services, including: cancer center with radiation/oncology and infusion; ambulatory surgery suite with ten ORs; endoscopy suite with special procedure rooms; wound care clinic; faculty offices; and full support services. The main floor of the center includes public functions, including a health education center and community outreach services.
