High Point University

High Point, North Carolina
Perkins Eastman has assisted High Point University in adding to the overall campus environment and in renewing their facilities to meet the demands of a 21st-century education over the last several years. Major projects:

University Center: The 279,000 sf University Center creates a campus environment that mixes student life amenities and residences in a single "live, learn, play" environment that prioritizes sustainable design.

Hotel-style accommodations for 300 two-person rooms feature community kitchens, while amenities include a library annex with 24-hour access to writing and tutoring services and study spaces; university-branded dining accommodations; convenience store; fitness and wellness center; putting green; and 250-seat cinema.

Slane Student Activity Center: A 44,149 sf addition to the Slane Student Activity Center houses a gymnasium, a weight room, and aerobics classrooms; a post office; a food court; and an outdoor swimming pool. The existing three-story Slane Center was renovated to include a Welcome Center, additional dining space, and a Starbucks coffee shop.

The High Point University campus is inspired by classical design; the neo-Georgian architectural style of the addition reflects the early construction on the campus dating back to 1924.
