UC Davis Medical Center: Telemedicine

Sacramento, California
The Telemedicine Resource Center and Rural-PRIME Facility is a four-story building located in the center of the UC Davis Medical Center campus, directly across from the main Hospital and the Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion. The first three floors of the building connect directly to the recently completed Education Building to promote continuity between the medical education programs occurring in the two facilities.

The Telemedicine Resource Center utilizes a steel frame structure with special concentric braced frames to resist lateral loads. The exterior finishes consist primarily of pre-cast concrete panels along the north and east facades, with aluminum window wall systems comprising the majority of the east, west, and south façades. Sun-shading elements minimize the solar heat gain throughout the building.

This project was designed to comply with the University of California Policy on Green Building Design, the Presidential Policy for Green Building Design, and Clean Energy Standards.

This project was completed by the Principals and staff of LBL Architects prior to merging with Perkins Eastman.
