VA Long Beach Healthcare System

Long Beach, California
In recognition of an unmet and growing need for blind rehabilitation services among U.S. Veterans, the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHCS) has been selected as a site under CARES for a new Blind Rehabilitation Center (BRC). This new BRC inpatient program will provide comprehensive adjustment-to-blindness training and serve as a major referral center for the entire Southwestern United States.

In addition to a BRC, this project includes a new Outpatient Clinical Services building, new Main Lobby, and Education Resource Center (ERC). The goals of the project are to meet the functional needs of VALBHS, revitalize the image of the campus, and create an architectural fabric that weaves the campus together and provides a striking new identity.

The VA Long Beach Healthcare System will continue to modernize its facilities and services to satisfy the healthcare needs of veterans. This project will honor and serve veterans by providing high quality, reliable, accessible, and efficient healthcare in a contemporary environment of care.

This project was completed by the Principals and staff of LBL Architects prior to merging with Perkins Eastman.
