With 90+ years of destination expertise, the family-owned business is known for seamlessly choreographing tours to fulfill its mission as “a leader in the creation of enriching travel experiences that enhance people’s lives by broadening their knowledge and fulfilling their dreams.” Perkins Eastman worked with Tauck’s leadership to create an environment that supports its needs and desired performance level, position the firm for the future while honoring its past, and increase its staff’s connection to each other and the organization. Perkins Eastman also assisted Tauck in identifying a prime location for its new office. Test-fits and building assessments were provided for several locations.

As the company evolved, departmental adjacencies, flow, and wayfinding suffered due to insufficient design flexibility and inadequate expansion space. Perkins Eastman conducted a pre-design Discovery Workshop and survey that engaged Tauck in the development of a strategic vision for its future workplace. The survey findings identified the need to allocate “heads down” work areas, provide access to nature and natural light, improve acoustics, ergonomics, and technology, and enhance the aesthetic quality of the office.

Other workplace design goals include promoting wellness, and stress reduction, energy and celebration, and cross-departmental collaboration and innovation. Incorporating these findings into the final design promoted a deeper connection to a brand that combines warmth, invitation, authenticity, and worldliness, with modern, fresh ideas, and upscale destination offerings. Concept designs include stone fireplaces, natural materials, warm-toned woods and fabric selection to evoke a lodge-like setting. Streamlined European-style furniture, lighting, and built-in millwork provides an elegant, sophisticated, and residential quality to the new workspace.
