Las Vegas, NV, USA

An urbanism-driven design plan that revolutionized how people experience and enjoy Las Vegas.

Recognizing the need to take a different development approach with their properties on the legendary Las Vegas Strip as real estate values increased, MGM Mirage worked with designers from EE&K, who created a CityCenter plan prior to joining Perkins Eastman. The team’s vision, rooted in a more urbane and sustainable sensibility, includes Las Vegas’ largest hotel, two boutique hotels, retail, offices, and luxury residential units—all surrounded by a series of high-quality public environments and a walkable pedestrian realm. As the largest privately financed development in the country’s history, the implementation of CityCenter presented monumental challenges, but the successful collaboration of stakeholders and urbanist architects from around the world resulted in a functional, welcoming city within a city.
