Rutgers University: Rodkin Academic Success Center

Rutgers University: Rodkin Academic Success Center

New Brunswick, NJ, USA

A stunning new building bolsters scholastic and practice support for student athletes.

Located on Scarlet Knight Way, the Rodkin Academic Success Center consolidates all academic support services for Rutgers Athletics within a single building. Serving the over 700 student athletes, the facility accommodates academic advising, one-on-one and group tutoring, seminar rooms, a computer lab, and an expansive lounge area designed to foster peer-to-peer learning among other support areas. Perkins Eastman developed design concepts and documentation for the building, which was completed in a design-build process by Ewing Cole. In addition, new soccer and lacrosse training and administrative spaces complete the innovative center, bringing academics and athletics together. To assist the University with fundraising efforts for its ‘R BIG TEN BUILD’ campaign, Perkins Eastman developed support materials including renderings and an interactive app, efforts that helped secure the largest single gift in Rutgers Athletics history, a $15 million gift from Gary and Barbara Rodkin.
