Washington, D.C.  – Why discuss placemaking now, at a time when so many places: restaurants, retail, arenas, and other areas for public gathering sit silent or under-occupied? That’s the first question that acclaimed international architecture, planning, and design firm Perkins Eastman asked when embarking on a six-month exploration of the power of place in their newly published white paper “The Subtle Art of Placemaking.”

Authors of the white paper are Perkins Eastman’s Danya Hakky, PhD, Emily Scheffler, and Emily Chmielewski, Senior Associate and Design Research Director.
