The World Bank Group Uganda Country Office, whose building and interiors were designed by Perkins Eastman, has officially achieved EDGE Advanced certification, becoming the first EDGE-certified building in Uganda.
The project is also the second EDGE Advanced office building in East Africa, and the seventh in the entire continent. This is officially the first EDGE-certified project in the firm’s portfolio. The team’s design choices for the project have achieved predicted energy savings of 54 percent, water savings of 43 percent, and embodied energy savings of 24 percent. Overall, the project’s attainment of 40-percent predicted energy savings has earned it the distinction of EDGE Advanced certification. This impressive accomplishment visibly demonstrates the firm’s leadership and commitment to sustainable buildings around the world. Congratulations are in order for the team who made it happen, including Alistair Gellatly, Juan Guarin, Barbara Mullenex, Takehiro Nakamura, and Tomas Quijano.
