Located on the east side of the Al Masjid an Nabawi, or Prophet’s Mosque, four Marriott-branded hotels are part of Superblock 5, a ten-hotel complex that is the first phase of a massive redevelopment that responds to the pressing need for the expansion of both quality and quantity of hospitality assets in the region. These Perkins Eastman-designed hotels feature 2,011 hotel rooms, retail outlets, meeting facilities, and recreational amenities, as well as landscaped pedestrian corridors that direct traffic to, and from, the world-renowned pilgrimage site.
Ranging in height between 11 and 19 floors, the Superblock responds to the adjacent Prophet’s Mosque’s eastward expansion and the highly ambitious Madinah Central Area development. Its architectural concept complements the master plan by featuring a cohesive ensemble of buildings that reflect the Marriott brand through their exterior design and create a strong, memorable destination for pilgrims arriving from all over the world. The four hotels celebrate a contemporary interpretation of Hijazi architecture, repetition of site-specific building elements, and Madinah-specific natural elements. Each hotel is organized into linear bars and towers, maintaining a cohesive character while allowing each hotel tower to showcase its brand identity through specific façade details and openings.
