
New York, NY (May 13, 2026) – Perkins Eastman, the global design practice, announces that Alkis Klimathianos, AIA, has been named Co-Managing Principal of its New York studio, joining Rachel Birnboim, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Assoc. DBIA, in leading the firm’s flagship office. The appointment reflects Perkins Eastman’s continued investment in the depth and breadth of its New York design practice. Klimathianos brings extensive design leadership experience to the position and has played a central role in building the firm’s commercial practice in New York.

Birnboim continues to lead high-profile work across healthcare, higher education, senior living, and housing in addition to leading the studio and external industry roles. She recently accepted a two-year tenure as Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the New York Building Congress, underscoring her prominent role in the city’s broader design and construction community. Together, Klimathianos and Birnboim bring complementary expertise spanning commercial, civic, and institutional practice.
