Cristian Mare

Principal

“Architecture is a journey. It is a framework for experience, an ever-evolving conduit for activity, and a beacon intersecting space and time. I am inspired by the poignancy and power of buildings to guide, shelter, and provide narration for the stories that make us human.”

A native of Argentina, Cristian is driven by an avid curiosity to explore. His inquisitive nature propels him to ask questions and challenge assumptions, solving design problems in thoughtful and creative ways that help to support and define the client and institution’s mission. With over twenty years of experience, Cristian is an expert in the craft of architecture, focusing his design efforts across a variety of typologies, including healthcare, higher education, cultural and civic, K-12 education, high-rise, and large-scale mixed-use projects. Through thoughtful sequencing of spaces, Cristian works with his team to find opportunities to create moments of surprise, delight, activation, and reflection—all of which, combined, become the story of a building or space.

Cristian devotes the majority of his time in the studio, leading large teams on highly complex projects. He takes pride in his role as an educator and mentor for these teams, encouraging junior staff to find and use their voices, while helping to champion collaborative design culture within the firm.
