Deana Vogelgesang

Senior Associate

“I love taking a design and piecing the puzzle together, figuring out how it can be constructed with certain materials and comply with relevant codes. I like that it’s not subjective; there’s always one solution.”

The idea that Deana could design her own space took hold early on, when her parents designed their house on a mountaintop in Virginia. “My dad handed me some graph paper and told me to design the room that I wanted,” she says. “It made me think about the experience of users, their movement through space, and how that affects people.” Deana gained experience in K-12 and Residential design after she started practicing as an architect in 2011, and she has since come to specialize in Senior Living. Whether she’s involved in a campus reinvention for a life plan community or designing a new Center for Healthy Living, Deana takes pride in knowing that she’s contributing to the well-being of the individuals residing in the places she designs. As a project architect, Deana collaborates closely with her team to see that each project meets the requirements and interests of both operators and users. This approach results in spaces that harmonize design and comfort with function and safety.
