Jennifer has always felt compelled to write about the people and events around her since she joined her high school newspaper in the 11th grade. She was trained as a journalist through experience in summer jobs at The Washington Post and internships with wire services in Washington, DC, before starting her career at a small newspaper in Florida in 1993, where she covered multiple beats from city council to the local court system. Jennifer ultimately returned to Washington to become a correspondent for a group of Florida newspapers before becoming a national features writer covering home design and food, working with personalities at HGTV and Food Network. Her career writing about design began in earnest in 2008, when she joined a local interiors and architecture magazine called Washington Spaces. The magazine closed due to the recession in 2009, and the decade that followed included a post as marketing director for the Washington Design Center and several years of freelance writing and blogging before joining Perkins Eastman in 2021. Her role as senior communications writer includes managing the firm’s website content, producing its blog, Insights, and contributing to firmwide publications such as The Narrative magazine.
