Ruth’s passion for sustainability began in the Mediterranean, where she observed how vernacular buildings and climate-responsive urban form worked in harmony to support health, comfort, and community. Shaded streets funneled breezes, building massing responded to the sun, and walkable neighborhoods were shaped by the rhythms of the local climate. This early understanding of passive strategies—at both the urban and architectural scale—sparked her lifelong commitment to sustainable design.
After practicing as a designer and project architect, Ruth moved to the US to specialize in environmental design and building science. Since 2008, she’s collaborated on projects ranging from infill affordable housing to international high-rises and master plans in Asia and the Middle East. Today at Perkins Eastman, Ruth leads integrative processes that embed performance, health, and resilience into design. Her expertise includes Net Zero frameworks, West Coast energy codes, certifications, and campus-scale strategies. She thrives in multidisciplinary teams, driving outcomes that improve the built environment for people and planet alike.
