Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA, USA

A dynamic destination where kids learn and play in the heart of the city.

The reimagined Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is filled with interactive exhibit rooms and large gathering spaces where kids can tinker under the hood of a car, build a boat, and stage their own performances. Perkins Eastman worked alongside Koning Eizenberg, serving as Executive Architect for the massive expansion that preserved two of the city’s architecture treasures, the Old Post Office and Buhl Planetarium and introduced a dynamic new three-story addition. Showcasing sustainable adaptive design, a translucent screen surrounds the addition, becoming a dramatic wind sculpture and illuminated landmark that welcomes all.
