Janus: The Mink Building Biotechnology Lab

New York, NY

The Mink Building helps weave together an entire new community of biotechnology start-ups, small businesses, local entrepreneurs, and non-profits in West Harlem.

The Mink Building, situated in West Harlem’s biotech cluster, houses premier research organizations such as the City University of New York’s Advanced Science Research Center, City College’s Center for Discovery and Innovation, Harlem Biospace, New York Structural Biology Center, and the Zuckerman Mind & Brain Institute.

Perkins Eastman designed and outfitted the 10,000 sf headquarters for a New York City-based biotechnology company focused on cancer therapies. The state-of-the-art space includes dedicated wet and dry labs, conference rooms, collaborative research spaces, “huddle rooms,” and administrative areas. A central write-up room is accessible for researchers to analyze data, write experimental reports, and prepare presentations. The design features open views and abundant sunlight, facilitating frequent communication of research progress and data, thereby enhancing team and departmental functionality in drug discovery and development.
