It’s a fitting gateway to California’s capital city: A former California Highway Patrol Academy campus has become the new location for the Sacramento Job Corps program, training residents with skills for gainful employment in the city and throughout the region. Perkins Eastman Principal Betsey Olenick Dougherty was asked to design a new cafeteria with a similarly inspiring outlook. The design boasts features that include a kitchen and multi-use dining facilities with an emphasis on health, wellness and food-service training. The cafeteria also includes facilities designed to support students participating in student government, peer leadership, sports teams, and clubs.
