Providing teaching and research laboratories and serving as a magnet for the entire student body, the Saddleback College Interdisciplinary Science Building reflects the school’s aspirations for its forward-thinking science program. Perkins Eastman’s design for the building, which is located at the intersection of upper and lower sections of campus, serves to create a bridge across educational programs and enhance student life. With its large courtyard, colorful exterior, and three-story atrium, the building is dynamic and welcoming. Shared support areas and specialized labs occupy the buildings three floors, while sunlight prep spaces wrapping the exterior connect directly to interior labs. The enclosed atrium provides space for students and teachers to interact and collaborate in between classes, enhancing collective learning.
