Perkins Eastman collaborated with Carlos Zapata Studios and Antonio Citterio & Partners to design a new twenty-one-story luxury hotel in Manhattan’s East Village, located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods. Spanning five city lots, The Standard, East Village (originally the Cooper Square Hotel) has a sleek design and prime location that ensures its role as a major competitor in New York City’s thriving boutique-hotel market. The 146-key hotel comprises fifty-six French king rooms, seventy-nine king rooms, nine junior suites, and two master suites. One of the most evident features guests will encounter throughout their experience is a series of green spaces. Each penthouse suite has a dedicated terrace and a private outdoor roof patio. Guests also encounter green spaces throughout the facility’s public areas, including an outdoor garden accessible through the main entrance or via a ceremonial staircase. Other amenities include a restaurant/bar, a second bar with an exposed terrace for guests, a multi-purpose venue, and a small screening room.
