UCSF Moffitt Long Hospital: Third-Floor Radiology Department

San Francisco, CA

Enhancing the patient and staff experience through easy wayfinding, efficient space layout, and the incorporation of art and natural light.

The reconfiguration of the hospital’s radiology department includes relocating the reception desk closer to the entrance and renovating the holding area before exams into two separate waiting areas with plenty of natural light, making it easier for patients to transition between spaces.

The addition of an outpatient waiting room will provide privacy for the existing inpatient waiting area, which is being reimagined with larger private rooms to accommodate consultations and provide accessibility for gowned patients. Further additions include the cardiology area with new echo exam rooms and transesophageal echo (TEE) procedures; a radiology room for X-rays; a nuclear medicine camera; diagnostic angiography; endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP); a hot lab; and storage areas.
