Responding to a growing need for blind rehabilitation services among U.S. veterans, the VA Long Beach Healthcare System now provides inpatient care and comprehensive adjustment-to-blindness training. The Blind Rehabilitation Center, designed by LBL Architects prior to their merge with Perkins Eastman, includes a new outpatient clinical services building, a large sunlit main lobby, and a flexible education resource center. Meeting the functional needs of a large health system and revitalizing the campus, the design team created a striking modern facility that fosters rehabilitation and connection.
