WBEZ Chicago’s “What’s That Building?” featured Forrestal Elementary School in North Chicago. Part of the federal government’s Public Schools on Military Installations effort to upgrade out-of-date local public schools attended by children of U.S. military personnel, the new Forrestal—set to open this summer for 400 students—will replace the building the school has been in since 1957. “We think school design should be joyful and playful,” said Senior Associate Josh Bergman, who led the Chicago team on the new Forrestal.
